Update: Rapper Vanilla Ice Charged in Florida Burglary
He's accused of stealing items from a vacant home.
Rapper Vanilla Ice is chilling behind bars in Palm Beach County where police officials there say he has been connected with a residential burglary.
Robert Van Winkle, the man behind the persona, has been working to restore a home adjacent to where the residential burglary occurred, WPBF reported. It seems numerous items were removed from the home in the 100 block of North Atlantic Drive in Lantana between December 2014 and this month, the station reported. Stolen items included furniture, bicycles and a pool heater.
Van Winkle was connected to the crime during the course of the police investigation, WPTV reported. When a search warranted was executed on a home “under the care and control” of Van Winkle, several of the stolen items were recovered, the station noted.

Van Winkle’s rap career soared in the 1990s based on such hits as “Ice Ice Baby” and “Play That Funky Music.” He is now the host of the show “The Vanilla Ice Project” on the DIY Network where he and a crew fix up and flip homes.
According to the show’s website, Van Winkle’s crew is currently working to rehabilitate a “run-down south Florida mansion.”
Van Winkle was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail Wednesday and later released on $3,000 bond.
