Restoring Bronze Statues
Sculpture Restoration - how sculptures can be brought back to original beauty again even after being lost in the ocean for three months!!
Forms In Sculpture metal smiths are experts when it comes to restoring and renovating bronze and brass statues. We recently completed the restoration of a solid cast bronze sculpture of two eagles, 400lbs in weight and over 5ft height. This eagle sculpture is signed Sculpture by Duane Scott, a known artist of eagle sculptures and statues. This particular sculpture was in desperate need of restoration due to falling into the ocean and remained there for 3 months! By the time the sculpture had been rescued from the ocean there was severe damage to the metal and a lot of patina had occurred. Our metal smith and restoration specialist very carefully removed the damage to the bronze by hand and with machines, treated the metal and refinished it with darkener so that it looks incredible again.
Forms In Sculpture also took on another eagle sculpture that was in need of repair. This bronze eagle had a broken wing and needed mending; it was also broken from the wooden branches that it perched on top of as well as the wooden base. It was almost thought to be irreparable until brought to us. This eagle was also bronze but was hollow cast and riveted together. Our metal smith could see that this sculpture could be salvaged with a bit of help from our guys, a torch and various tools in our workshop. Our team repaired the wing from the inside and out and made a solid build backing the bird’s body and wing together so that the break is likely stronger than before they had separated.
