Sarasota Boy Hospitalized After Pellet Gun Injury

​ A 10-year-old boy was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital after being struck by a pellet.

SARASOTA, FL — A 10-year-old boy was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital Tuesday after being struck in the back by a pellet.

Genevieve Judge of the Sarasota Police Department said the incident happened at 5:30 p.m. in the in the 1700 block of Bethune Court, Sarasota.

"Due to the nature of the injuries, the boy was transported to Tampa General Hospital where he’s currently in stable condition," Judge said Wednesday.

The pellet gun was being used for target practice at the time of the incident.

"Witnesses told Sarasota Police detectives they believe the 10-year-old boy was injured from a ricochet from the pellet rifle accidentally," Judge added.
