Sarasota County Brush Fire Leads To Evacuation Orders: Fire Officials
A brush fire in southern Sarasota County has led to the evacuation of a Venice neighborhood, firefighters said.
VENICE, FL — A Venice neighborhood was evacuated Friday as firefighters battle an ongoing brush fire.
The Sarasota County Fire Department, Venice Fire Rescue and other area fire agencies are battling the blaze in the Stoneybrook community near River and Center roads in South Venice, VFR said.
As a precaution, homes in the Granite Woods Loop area were evacuated.

The fire was 80 percent contained around 2:30 p.m. and no additional evacuations are expected.
Though the fire isn’t within city limits, residents will smell smoke and see the fire, which is southeast of the city, because of a low-pressure weather system, fire officials said.
