SARASOTA, FL — A Sarasota holdup man left a food establishment empty-handed after showing the clerk a gun and demanding money. The incident happened Monday in the 1600 block of North Washington Boulevard.

"The suspect walks up to the counter and demands money from the clerk while showing a firearm," explained Genevieve Judge of the Sarasota Police Department. "While the clerk speaks with another employee, the suspect leaves the business without any money."

Judge said the incident occurred around 7:40 p.m. Police released video of the attempted robbery and asked for the public's help in finding the bandit.

"Sarasota Police detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying an armed robbery suspect who showed a firearm during an attempted armed robbery of a business in the 1600 block of North Washington Boulevard," said Judge.

A surveillance camera captured video of the man, who was wearing a black T-shirt, dark colored jeans, sneakers and a tan camouflage NRA hat.
