Sarasota Man Facing 40 Counts Of Possessing Child Sex Images

SARASOTA, FL -- A Sarasota man is facing 40 counts of possessing and creating materials featuring a sexual performance by a child.

According to Sarasota Police, Regan Stunkel, 59, of 2255 Central Ave., Sarasota, was arrested on 12 counts of manufacturing materials featuring a child's sexual performance and 28 counts of possessing materials featuring a child performing sex acts.

Sarasota Police detectives say they received information that Stunkel was in possession of child pornography and executed a search warrant on his home Wednesday, Sept. 5. Detectives said they found more than 70,000 pornographic images of children Stunkel's iPad, some created as recently as Aug. 22.

Stunkel is currently being held at the Sarasota County Jail without bond. An arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 12.
