Sarasota Man Killed in I-75 Crash With UPS Truck
The accident happened Friday morning in Manatee County.
A 21-year-old Sarasota man is dead following a Friday morning wreck on Interstate 75 in Manatee County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Leandro Verzini-Fernandez was heading southbound in the right lane of Interstate 75 around 5:10 a.m. in a Honda Civic. At the same time, a UPS semi-truck driven by Mario Hernandez, 39, of Cape Coral was parked as a disabled vehicle in the emergency lane.
The Civic veered into the emergency lane, and struck the UPS truck’s trailer.

The accident snarled southbound traffic for a time Friday morning.
Verzini-Fernandez died as a result of his injuries.

It is unclear at this time why the Civic veered.
