Sarasota Man Seriously Injured in Crash

The accident happened on U.S. 41.

A 62-year-old Sarasota man is in serious condition following a Thursday evening crash in Manatee County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Frankie Phillips was heading west from a private driveway off U.S. 41 around 7:22 p.m. when the crash happened. Troopers say Phillips made a left turn to go south onto 41 and entered into the path of an oncoming Toyota Camry driven by David Gonzalez, 17, of Palmetto.

Gonzalez’s vehicle struck the front, left side of Phillips’ car, a highway patrol report said.
