Sarasota Memorial Day Parade 2016: What To Know
The annual event steps off at 10 a.m. Monday, May 30 at Main Street and Osprey Avenue.
SARASOTA, FL — With the annual Sarasota Memorial Day Parade just around the corner, there are a few details city officials want to make sure residents and visitors are aware of in advance.
While the parade itself steps off at 10 a.m. at Main Street and Osprey Avenue, a number of street closings will go into effect before then. In addition, several tow-away zones are planned.
Street closings, according to the Sarasota Police Department, will go into effect Monday at the following locations:

- 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Main Street from U.S. 301 to Mira Mar Court
- 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Links Avenue from Fruitville Road to Ringling Boulevard
- 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Central Avenue from Main Street to 1st Street
- 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. – First Street from Pineapple Avenue to Central Avenue
- 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Pineapple Avenue from State Street to First Street
Vehicles must be removed from the areas by 8 a.m. or they will be towed at the owner’s expense, the police department reported in an email to media. Anyone who has a vehicle towed during the parade can call Upman’s Towing at 941-365-7084 or more details.
This year’s parade will end at Selby Five Points Park, at the corner of Main Street and Central Avenue. A Memorial Day ceremony is scheduled to begin around 11 a.m.
