Sarasota Roundabout Partially Closing Temporarily
A section of the Orange Avenue/Main Street roundabout will close for the installation of public art.
SARASOTA, FL — Sarasota area motorists might want to steer clear of the Orange Avenue, Main Street roundabout this Sunday. The city has announced that a portion of the roundabout will close temporarily.
Starting at 5 a.m. on April 17, the southeastern leg of the roundabout will close to traffic, the city announced in an email to media. The closing is expected to last until mid-afternoon.
Work being performed involves the installation of “Embracing Our Differences,” a piece of public art. The sculpture “fulfills a public art requirement for the recently completed Aloft hotel and One Palm condominium developments,” the city’s email said. “The developer, One Palm LLC, partnered with Embracing Our Differences, a Sarasota-based nonprofit organization, to select an art design and artist.”
