Sarasota Shooting Victim Identified
Sarasota County deputies say the shooting happened along Hillview Street early Wednesday morning.

Sarasota, FL — The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting death that occurred early Wednesday morning.
According to the agency, deputies received reports of a shooting in the 2925 Hillview St. in Sarasota around 4:39 a.m. When they arrived, they found Darryl A. Davis, 39, suffering from a gunshot wound. Lifesaving measures were started, an email from the agency said. Davis was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, but was later pronounced dead.
Deputies say the suspect is described as a light-skinned black male who stands about 5-foot-10. He weighs an estimated 140 pounds and was last seen wearing a white bandana, black shirt and dark pants. A newer model silver sedan was seen in the area around the time of the incident. It remains unclear if the vehicle is connected to the suspect.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 941-861-4900. Tips may also be submitted through Crime Stoppers by calling 941-366-TIPS.
Deputies have said they do not believe there is a threat to the public. No further information is available at this time.
