Sarasota YMCA Program For Homeless Youth Receives $2,000 Grant
The Millie Rice Charitable Fund of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County gave $2,000 to the YMCA's Schoolhouse Link program.
SARASOTA, FL -- The Sarasota YMCA Schoolhouse Link program recently received a grant of $2,000 from the Millie Rice Charitable Fund of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County to support the educational needs of homeless youth.
Schoolhouse Link is a partnership of the Sarasota Family YMCA and the Sarasota County School Board, with additional funding from Sarasota County, Gulf Coast Community Foundation and local donors. The goal of the program, which provides services to assist families and youth who are homeless and/or in transition, is to ensure that students in transition are able to enroll, attend and succeed in school. Schoolhouse Link supports each student by helping create educational stability and by removing any barriers limiting their success.
Created in 1998, the program serves an average of 800 children who are homeless each year.
