Shooter In Murder-Suicide At Vet Clinic Identified: Sarasota Sheriff
A woman shot and killed a former coworker at KindVet of Sarasota before turning the gun on herself, the Sarasota County sheriff said.
SARASOTA, FL — The shooter in a murder-suicide at a Sarasota veterinary hospital has been identified as Morgan Kronstadt, according to a Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Law enforcement received reports of shots fired at KindVet of Sarasota Urgent Care in the 3900 block of Clark Road Wednesday around 5:11 p.m., Evan Keats, public information officer for the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, told ABC Action News.
The 38-year-old Bradenton woman is a former KindVet employee.

Investigators believe that Kronstadt entered the vet clinic through the front door and locked it from the inside before finding and shooting the victim, another woman, the sheriff’s office said. She then turned the gun on herself.
Three other people who were in the business at the time of the shooting escaped uninjured through the building’s back door and called 911.

When deputies responded to KindVet, they found the front door locked and forced it open to enter the building, where they found Kronstadt and the victim.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, while the victim was brought to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where she later died, according to an SCSO.
The victim’s identity is protected under Marsy’s Law and no other details are available, the agency said.
The sheriff’s office is investigating whether Kronstadt had posted a message earlier that day on the KindVet Facebook page referencing personal and professional issues. This post has since been taken down.
Kronstadt made the now-deleted post to the veterinary office’s Facebook page on Friday just before 6 p.m. claiming she had been bullied by the business’ management while working there, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reported. In the post, she wrote that the office's owners “forced this event to happen.”
