Siesta Key Shooting Leaves 1 Woman Injured: Sarasota Sheriff

SIESTA KEY, FL — A woman was injured in a shooting near Avenida Messina and Avenida Navarra on Siesta Key after a fight broke out Monday afternoon, according to a Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Deputies responded to reports of a fight involving possibly 10 or more juveniles in the area, which began near Beach Access 3, just after 4 p.m.

Several gunshots were heard, and one woman was shot and brought to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the sheriff’s office said.

More gunshots were heard shortly after this near Avenida Messina and Ocean Boulevard, but no victims were found in this area, SCSO said.

The investigation is ongoing. Deputies believe the shooting was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.
