'Significant Drug Arrest' Announced in Sarasota

A Bradenton woman faces nearly a dozen charges.

A 35-year-old Bradenton woman faces a host of criminal charges after Sarasota County deputies say she sold them heroin and Oxycodone pills.

The investigation into Daisy Gallo began about a week ago when deputies learned she might be selling heroin, cocaine and prescription pills in both Sarasota and Manatee counties, an email from the agency stated.

Detectives met with Gallo twice over the last week in the 1700 block of North Lockwood Ridge Road in Sarasota, the email said. On both occasions Gallo sold them heroin and told detectives she could also provide “a wide variety of other illegal drugs.”

On Tuesday, detectives met with Gallo for a third time. They purchased heroin and Oxycodone pills from Gallo before bringing her into custody, the release stated.

Detectives also found more heroin, rock cocaine, 130 different prescription pills, methamphetamine, a .38 Smith & Wesson revolver and $540 cash in Gallo’s car, the email said. They also found a few Electronic Benefit Transfer cards that belonged to other people.

Gallo of 502 26th Ave. E. in Bradenton was charged with three counts of sale of heroin within 1,000 feet of a daycare, sale of oxycodone with 1,000 feet of a daycare, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of buprenorphine and a number of other offenses.

The sheriff’s office described Gallo’s arrest as “significant” in a media release about the undercover operation.

Gallo’s arrest comes on the heels of a number of high-profile heroin-related cases in the Sarasota area recently. Sarasota police reported three overdoses – one fatal – within a 72-hour period last week.
