Teen Charged In Vacation Rental Shooting In St. Armands Circle: Police

A 15-year-old Punta Gorda boy faces charges connected to a shooting at a vacation rental near St. Armands Circle, Sarasota police said.

SARASOTA, FL — A 15-year-old Punta Gorda boy faces charges connected to a shooting at a vacation rental near St. Armands Circle, according to a Sarasota Police Department news release.

Two adult victims suffered minor injuries in the shooting, which happened on July 24 just before 1 a.m. near the intersection of Jackson Drive and South Washington Drive.

The teen was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, police said.

While police released the suspect's name, it is Patch's policy not to identify those in the juvenile court system. Police didn’t say whether he was being charged as a juvenile or an adult.

Police are investigating whether others were involved in the shooting.

Detectives believe it was an isolated incident and that the public isn’t in any danger.
