Update: Teen Used Facebook to Mastermind Prostitution Ring, Cops Say
The 17-year-old Sarasota girl was charged Friday with human trafficking of a person younger than 18.

Updated Nov. 25, 2:50 p.m.: A 15-year-old Venice High School boy has now been charged with human trafficking. The Venice Police Department says the teen worked with a 17-year-old girl to recruit and entice other students to participate in the prostitution ring.

A Sarasota High School student stands accused of being the mastermind behind a prostitution ring that offered up teenage girls for sex in exchange for money and booze.

The girl, whose name Patch is not releasing, is said to have approached female students at Riverview, Venice and Sarasota High Schools, offering them payment if they had sex with men, MySuncoast reported.
So far, police have made only one adult arrest in relation to the ring. John Michael Mosher, 21, is said to have paid with a bottle of liquor and $40 to have sex with a 15-year-old girl.

Other arrests in the case, which has been under investigation since last month, are anticipated, the Sarasota Herald Tribune reported.
The ring was uncovered when students at Venice High told administrators about it. Another student, the paper reported, is believed to have helped the 17-year-old come up with the prostitution plan.

Venice Police Department investigators say the teen also used Facebook to organize the business, asking Johns for $50 for oral sex and $100 for sex with a virgin, ABC News reported.
Mosher was arrested Friday by the Venice Police Department and booked into the Sarasota County Jail. He faces sexual assault charges, according to county jail records. He remained behind bars Tuesday.
It is unclear how many teens were involved in the ring.
