Cops Respond to Call for Weed on Twitter

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office's tweet has gone viral.

A Twitter user who took to the social media network hoping to score a little marijuana Tuesday afternoon didn’t get the response she was hoping for.

It seems the social media folks at the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office came across the tweet posted by ā€œGoddessā€ and wasted no time responding.

That tweet simply said: ā€œSomebody bring me weed. I’ll pay for it.ā€

ā€œWhere should we meet you?ā€ Deputies asked in response.

Not surprisingly, Goddess didn’t issue a reply. More than 31,000 twitter users did, however, by retweeting the witty retort. The reply was also favorited by more than 27,000 Twitter users.

This isn’t the first time law enforcement has used social media to reach out to suspected criminals. In Pasco County, deputies were able to arrest a man after he commented on a post naming him the agency’s ā€œFugitive of the Day.ā€

Law enforcement agencies have also been known to have a little fun with their social media audiences. Last year, the Miami Beach Police Department took to twitter to announce the arrest of the ā€œElf on the Shelf.ā€ The little guy was accused of sleigh-napping during the height of the holiday season.
