Vice Presidential Nominee Tim Kaine Cancels Sarasota Stop

Democrat Tim Kaine's Sarasota appearance has been called off due to a scheduling change.

SARASOTA, FL — Floridians who were hoping for a chance to see Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine live in Sarasota on Friday are out of luck. Hillary Clinton’s campaign has announced the cancellation of the event due to a scheduling change.

Kaine was set to make a Friday afternoon appearance in Sarasota following a rally in Tallahassee. The event at Florida State University’s Oglesby Union is still on the schedule. Kaine, a U.S. Senator from Virginia, is set to appear with former Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and Capt. Mark Kelly. The Giffords and Kelly “will lay out their support for Clinton and Kaine’s plans to tackle gun violence,” according to Clinton’s campaign.

Clinton was ahead in national polling by 5.4 percentage points Thursday, up from Wednesday’s 4.2 percent, according to RealClear Politics. Clinton also leads in Florida polls by 1.6 percent, according to the website. A new poll released by Bloomberg, however, said Republican Donald Trump was up by 2 in the Sunshine State.
