Walmart Shopper Accidentally Shot Himself: Sarasota Sheriff
A man adjusting his holstered gun while shopping at Walmart accidentally shot himself in the leg and groin, Sarasota County sheriff said.
VENICE, FL — A shopper accidentally shot himself at the Venice Walmart late Thursday morning, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
A 911 caller reported hearing a popping sound and seeing a trail of blood near the bathroom at the front of the store.
The store was evacuated after the gun went off and responding deputies cleared the premises. Nobody connected to the shooting was found in the store, the sheriff’s office said.

A short time later, a person with a gunshot wound was found at the Sarasota Memorial Hospital campus in Venice.

While adjusting the gun in the holster, it discharged, hitting him in the leg and groin area, deputies said.
