Bites Nearby: Grill Avlija

Can't decide where to eat dinner? Patch is here with suggestions every week.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Seminole Heights Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out.

Here's this week's pick:

This Bosnian restaurant offers such delicacies as "sirnica" (cheese pie), "zeljanica" (spinach pie) and other Eastern European delicacies.

"Avlija" means "front porch" in Bosnian; hence the outdoor seating.

The owner, Suad, immigrated from Bosnia in 1996. His specialty is the "Su-ben," a Reuben sandwich with smoked beef instead of corned beef. The "pljeskavica" is another favorite: a hamburger with two-thirds beef and one-third lamb. Vegetarian and organic options are available, too.
