Krewe of Sant' Yago Knight Parade to honor Tampa's Egypt Shriners as grand marshals

Tampa tradition continues with the Knights of Sant' Yago Illuminated Parade on Feb. 14

TAMPA, Fla. (September 29, 2014) – The 2015 Krewe of Sant’ Yago Knight Parade presented by MOR will honor Tampa’s Egypt Shriners as grand marshals, the Krewe announced today. Egypt Shriners are the local representatives of Shriners International, representing 37 clubs & units all working to serve mankind through the resources of its philanthropy, Shriners Hospitals for Children®.

The Knight Parade, to be held on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, is the signature event in a weekend of activities hosted by the Krewe of the Knights of Sant’ Yago and the Egypt Shriners. Details on other events coinciding with the Knight Parade will be announced soon.

“The Knights of Sant’ Yago selected the Egypt Shriners as our grand marshals this year to honor and highlight the great work they do in our community,” said Louis Campanello, Krewe of the Knights of Sant’ Yago member and parade chairman. “The Krewe of Sant’ Yago and Egypt Shriners share similar values, so it’s a natural fit for us to team up on this celebration of Tampa civic pride.”

The Knight Parade presented by MOR, will begin at 7 p.m. as illuminated floats roll down Seventh Avenue in historic Ybor City, accompanied by marching bands, thousands of participants and scores of beads. The 2015 parade will also feature representatives from Egypt Shriners’ signature units like the Midget Motors, Motor Corps, Pharaohs, Tin Lizzies, Keystone Kops, Provost Guard, Cracker Jacks and more. Proceeds from the Knight Parade benefit the Krewe of the Knights of Sant’ Yago Education Foundation, which has provided more than $2 million in higher education scholarships for deserving local students.
