2 Arrested, Pot, Van, Cash Seized In Marijuana Grow House Bust: Deputies

Charges abound for two Tampa men, 40 and 39, apprehended at the Knoll Ridge Drive home. Among counts: alleged theft of $9K of electricity.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – A suspected marijuana grow house was dismantled, a van and nearly $18,000 seized and two arrested after a search warrant was served Thursday at a home on the 14300 block of Knoll Ridge Drive in Tampa by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

During the search, deputies reportedly discovered two rooms converted for marijuana cultivation along with 40 marijuana rootbulbs, approximately 16 pounds of processed marijuana, and approximately 82 pounds of marijuana stalks and unprocessed marijuana, the department said.

Deputies also seized a 2009 white Ford van and $17,950 in cash.

Tampa Electric crews were called, as well, and determined an illegal electrical connection providing gun-metered electricity to the residence, with an estimated theft value of $9,000 in electricity, deputies said.

Arrested were:

  • Angel De La Rosa Estrada, 39 of Tampa, for alleged possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana less than 20 grams, trafficking in marijuana 300 to 2, 000 plants, manufacture of marijuana, third-degree grand theft, possession for purpose of trafficking or sell Marijuana 25 to 2,000pounds (warrant), manufacture of marijuana (warrant), third-degree grand theft (warrant), possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (warrant), possession for purpose of manufacturing (warrant) and possession of paraphernalia (warrant).

He was charged with two counts of alleged trafficking in marijuana, two counts of cultivation of marijuana, grand theft of electricity, maintaining a dwelling for manufacturing a controlled substance and possession with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a church., the department said.

  • Aldent Ramon Hernandez Rosa, 40 of Tampa, for suspicion of trafficking in marijuana 300 to 2,000 plants, manufacture of marijuana, third-degree grand theft, possession for purpose of trafficking or sell, possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was charged with alleged trafficking in marijuana, cultivation of marijuana, grand theft of electricity, maintaining a dwelling for cultivation of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, deputies said.

The investigation is ongoing, according the Sheriff's office.
