2 Charged In July Murder At Tampa McDonald's

Tampa Police have arrested two people in the murder of a man in July in the parking lot of a Tampa McDonald's restaurant.

TAMPA, FL -- Tampa Police have arrested two people for the murder of a man in July in the parking lot of a Tampa McDonald's restaurant.

Marquez Davon Roberts, 19, was charged with first-degree murder, carrying a concealed firearm and uttering a counterfeit instrument in connection with the July 20 fatal shooting of Nicholas Mortazavi, 20, at the McDonald's at 3515 S. Dale Mabry Highway (see related story).

Dontae Lamar Hopkins, 17 was charged with third-degree felony murder with a firearm.

According to police, Mortazavi drove to the McDonald's parking lot to sell marijuana to Roberts. During the deal, Roberts paid Mortazavi with counterfeit money and a confrontation ensued. Both Roberts and Hopkins pulled out guns, fatally shooting Mortazavi.

On Thursday, Dec. 6, the case was taken to a grand jury and both Roberts and Hopkins were indicted. Hopkins turned himself in on Dec. 6. Roberts turned himself in on Dec. 8.
