2 Dead In Murder-Suicide In Downtown Tampa: Police

According to authorities, a 31-year-old man killed his wife and left her body inside a parked car. Deputies found him dead 4 hours later.

TAMPA, FL — Two people are dead in what authorities are calling a murder-suicide in downtown Tampa on Friday night.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the 2800 block of Cedaridge Drive shortly after 9 p.m. after receiving reports about a missing woman who was possibly in danger.

Investigators found the missing woman three hours later, dead inside a vehicle parked at 815 Water St. in downtown Tampa. Authorities identified the woman as 28-year-old Waleska Gomez Barroeta.

Authorities did not say how Gomez Barroeta died.

After additional investigation, authorities learned the woman's husband — 31-year-old Franklin Vegas Delgado — called a family member and told them he killed his wife. According to authorities, Vegas Delgado abandoned the car where the victim was found and left the parking lot on foot.

At 1:20 a.m., detectives found Vegas Delgado dead from self-inflicted injuries at the Marriott Waterside Hotel located at 505 Water St. in Tampa.

“Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones impacted by this heartbreaking tragedy,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. “This is an unimaginable loss and a painful reminder that violence is never the answer.”

The incident remains under investigation.
