While driving erratically, the driver crashed the vehicle into a sidewalk and a tree and the two teens ran into the woods nearby to hide. A K9 unit tracked and arrested them “within minutes,” the agency said.
Yamilex Santana, 18, and a 15-year-old suspect face multiple charges, including grand theft auto.

Though the sheriff’s office has named the 15-year-old suspect, it’s Patch policy not to name those in the juvenile justice system. It’s not clear whether the suspect is being charged as a juvenile or an adult.
"I'm consistently impressed with the precision and speed of our deputies," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "Less than seven minutes after these two recklessly ditched their car, law enforcement from HCSO, Pasco County, Hernando County, and FHP took these criminals into custody."
