3rd Death Sentence Recommended for Convicted Cop Killer

Dontae Morris still faces one more murder trial.

The fallout from a 2010 crime spree is beginning to pile up for Tampa’s Dontae Morris.

On Wednesday, a jury handed down Morris’ fourth conviction on murder charges. On Thursday, those same jurors voted 10-2 to recommend the death penalty, several media outlets are reporting. Whether Judge William Fuente will take the jury’s recommendation remains to be seen. If he does, it will be Morris’ third death penalty.

Morris, 29, is already facing two death sentences in the June 29, 2010, shooting deaths of Tampa Police Officers Jeffrey Kocab and David Curtis. He was also sentenced to life in prison for the 2010 slaying of Rodney Jones.
