Exodus Women’s Center has provided the community with women’s health care services since 1992 and specializes in low- and high-risk obstetrics, gynecology, fertility, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, and menopause.

“We are honored AdventHealth, a proven health care leader, will be continuing and expanding the mission we embarked on 28 years ago to provide quality, compassionate obstetrical and gynecological care to all women in our community,” said Susan Levine, president and CEO, Exodus Women’s Center.

Exodus Women’s Center was founded for the purpose of alleviating a severe shortage of OB/GYN physicians who accepted Medicaid in Hillsborough County. From a few offices in 1992, Exodus gradually expanded its network to serve more patients throughout Hillsborough and Polk Counties.

To further its mission, Exodus partnered with the Healthy Start Initiative to enroll patients in the program and to help reduce their risk of poor maternal and child health. In 2012, the Healthy Start Coalition of Hardee, Highlands and Polk counties named Exodus its “Provider of the Year.”

In November 2013, Exodus partnered directly with REACHUP Inc., in conjunction with the Florida Association of Healthy Start Coalitions and the Healthy Start Coalition of Hillsborough County, to participate in the Strong Start for Mothers and Newborns Initiative in Hillsborough and Polk counties. As part of this initiative, Exodus provides facilities in its offices where REACHUP/Healthy Start case managers can meet privately with and counsel expectant mothers on a variety of issues including substance abuse, disease management, procuring maternal/fetal testing/medications, referrals to community resources, family planning, birth plans and oversight to ensure patients return for follow-up visits.

Work to complete the transaction will take place over the next few months as leaders work to ensure a smooth transition. Until the transaction is complete, current ownership will remain in place. Financial terms have not been disclosed.

The West Florida Division of AdventHealth includes AdventHealth Carrollwood, AdventHealth Connerton, AdventHealth Dade City, AdventHealth Lake Placid, AdventHealth North Pinellas, AdventHealth Ocala, AdventHealth Sebring, AdventHealth Tampa, AdventHealth Wauchula, AdventHealth Wesley Chapel and AdventHealth Zephyrhills, as well as five freestanding offsite Emergency Rooms including AdventHealth Brandon ER, AdventHealth Central Pasco ER, AdventHealth Palm Harbor ER, AdventHealth TimberRidge ER, and AdventHealth Westchase ER.
