TAMPA, FL — Breeze Airways announced Tuesday that it’s adding two new international flights at Tampa International Airport, according to a news release from the airport.
Flights to and from San Jose, Costa Rica, will start Oct. 3, while service to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, begins on July 2.
The service to San Jose has been a longtime goal for airport officials, marking the return of the Costa Rican city as a destination for TPA for the first time in more than 25 years, the news release said.
Costa Rica ranks as Florida’s ninth-largest trade partner, with about 3,000 Costa Rican-born residents calling Tampa Bay home, according to the airport.
Flights to San Jose will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Breeze will be the only carrier offering this route.
Meanwhile, flights to Punta Cana will operate on Thursdays and Sundays. JetBlue and Frontier already offer flights to and from this destination.
"It’s an exciting day for Tampa International Airport as we celebrate not one, but two new international nonstop routes,” Michael Stephens, the airport’s CEO, said. “With new service to San Jose, Costa Rica … and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, we’re enhancing Tampa Bay’s access to two sought-after travel spots. We’re thrilled that Breeze is adding these routes that give our travelers even more ways to experience the beauty and culture of Latin America and the Caribbean.”
With the addition of these new routes, Breeze's growing international presence will double at TPA from two destinations to four.
The airline will launch nonstop flights to Nassau, The Bahamas — its first-ever international service — on June 11, and will start to offer service to Montego Bay, Jamaica, beginning Dec. 19.
Breeze’s service to Montego Bay was delayed after Hurricane Melissa's 2025 landfall in western Jamaica, the airport said.
