The pair were last seen at an off-campus apartment near USF and on the USF Tampa campus, and detectives are actively pursuing leads in both Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office tip line.
2. Tampa businessman jailed over backyard guest house at center of 5-year legal battle (fox13news.com) — A long-running dispute over a backyard guest house has landed Tampa businessman Michael Martin in jail for contempt of court after he refused to demolish the structure, pool, and pickleball court a judge deemed illegal on a non-buildable lot. Neighbors, attorneys, and the city of Tampa are tangled in the five-year fight over permitting, land use, and whether the city can re-plot the property so Martin can keep what he built.
3. Popular school program i-Ready, used in Hillsborough County, faces lawsuit over student data concerns (wfla.com) — Parents of Hillsborough County elementary students may want to take a closer look at i-Ready, the online program their kids use for reading and math, as a new lawsuit questions how it collects and shares student data. Attorneys allege the platform allows third parties to observe student behavior, while the company and district insist data is protected and used only for education.
4. Decades-old cold case breakthrough leads to arrest in execution-style killings of married couple before child (fox13news.com) — Federal agents arrested a 62-year-old man in Tampa this week in connection with a decades-old double homicide case out of New York, bringing a long-stalled investigation back to life. While the killings happened in the Bronx, the suspect had reportedly been living more than a thousand miles away before being taken into custody here.
