TAMPA, FL — Haven in South Tampa will hold its final service on May 21 as the Bern’s Steak House Group prepares to replace the restaurant with a new concept.

Peddler + Potter Oyster House, a new seafood restaurant, is slated to take over the space at 2208 W Morrison Ave. and is expected to open in fall 2027, the company said in a news release.

Service at Haven will continue as normal through May 21, giving guests time to return during the restaurant’s final weeks.

The restaurant group called the eatery’s closing the conclusion of “a successful and well-loved run.”

Executive Chef Chad Johnson said that it’s the right time to close Haven and switch gears at the property.

“As we looked at the long-term future of the property, it became clear this was the right moment to bring Peddler + Potter to life, a concept I’ve been developing for years,” he said. “It’s a bittersweet moment for many of us, as Haven has been home to so many incredible memories and played such an important role in shaping how we think about food and hospitality. We’re excited to share something new with Tampa while honoring everything that Haven has meant to our team and our guests.”

Peddler + Potter Oyster House will focus on a seafood menu that changes daily based on ingredients at their best. A raw bar featuring Florida oysters is planned as a focal point, and the rest of the menu will center on the ingredients in each dish.

The beverage program will build on the foundation established at Bern’s Steak House, with an extensive wine list designed to pair with the seafood menu.

The new restaurant’s layout will be built around an open kitchen, according to the release. The company said the design is intended to reflect transparency in sourcing and preparation, and will include a custom-built hearth from Grills by Demant and a Montague range.

The project is being developed with Kimmich Smith Architecture, JAI The Collective, TBCI Design, Nelson Construction and Vers Creative.

Many members of Haven’s team will remain with the Bern’s Steak House Group in other roles.
