TAMPA, FL — A “glow-up is coming” to a Tampa bar and restaurant that will be rebranded, the owners shared in a social media post.
The ‘80s and ‘90s throwback GenX Tavern, 103 E. Jackson Street, will be closing this summer to make way for a new concept.
The last day of service is July 4.
“So before we say ‘bye, bye, bye,’ come kick it with us one more time … Let’s make these final weeks epic,” the owners wrote in their post.
GenX Tavern has had a successful run since opening in 2019, the owners added.
“After [seven] totally rad, all-that-and-a-bag-of-chips years, it’s time for us to say peace out to our 80s [and] 90s era. What a run. From neon nights and throwback jams to packed weekends that felt straight out of MTV, you showed up and showed out every single time,” they wrote. “This place wasn’t just a restaurant — it was a time machine. A ‘meet me there at 8’ spot. We celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, promotions, and plenty of ‘no special occasion, just good times’ nights together. And honestly? It’s been da bomb. But like every great mixtape, sometimes it’s time to flip the track.”
Additional details about the new concept haven’t been released, but the owners promised “a whole new energy,” adding that it will be “a fresh concept we’re beyond excited to introduce — elevated, exciting, and built for the next era.”
