TAMPA, FL — A Tampa man will spend the rest of his life in prison for killing a man he invited to his apartment for a threesome and trying to kill his boyfriend, the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office said in a news release.
Dewayne Gallishaw, 29, was sentenced Friday to life in prison for first-degree premeditated murder and another life sentence for attempted first-degree murder, the state attorney said.
He also received 30 years for aggravated battery.
The case stems from April 19, 2023, when Hillsborough County deputies responded to a shooting at the Palms at Sand Lake apartment complex on Marsh Harbor Place, reports said.
Gallishaw and his boyfriend invited a 23-year-old man to the apartment for a sexual encounter, WFLA reported.
While Gallishaw's boyfriend and the victim were engaged in sexual relations, Gallishaw left the room, Tampa Bay 28 said. He later returned with a firearm and shot the victim twice in the head.
The boyfriend ran into a bedroom, locked the door and called 911.
Gallishaw kicked in the bedroom door, and the two struggled before Gallishaw was forced out of the apartment, reports said. He then fired multiple rounds through the front door before leaving the area.
The 23-year-old was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he died.
A woman in her mid-70s living in a neighboring apartment was also wounded in the shooting, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said in a news release at the time. She was struck in the foot by a bullet.
Investigators determined that at least 12 rounds were fired into her apartment, reports said.
Gallishaw went on trial in July and was found guilty of all three charges about a week later.
