TAMPA, FL — A man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a deadly shooting in Tampa last month, authorities said.
Michael Knobloch, 36, was arrested in connection with the shooting that happened Sept. 22 on Nebraska Avenue near McEwen Avenue, Tampa police said in a news release.
He was charged with first-degree premeditated murder with a firearm resulting in great bodily harm or death.
On Oct. 2, detectives conducted a neighborhood canvass and distributed flyers with photographs of the suspect, going door-to-door in the area.
During the canvass, an individual identified Knobloch as the person pictured in the flyers, police said.
Shortly after this, Knobloch turned himself in at the Orient Road Jail.
"I want to commend the work of our detectives who remained committed to getting justice for the victim's family," acting Chief Brett Owen said in a statement. "Information provided by members of our community helped detectives identify the suspect, and we are grateful to everyone who assisted with this investigation. While nothing can bring their loved one back, we hope this arrest brings some sense of accountability as they grieve this loss."
