
For the second time in a week, a local private school has shut its doors in the face of widespread illness among students.
Cambridge Christian School, 6101 N. Habana Ave., decided Tuesday to close for the rest of the week when 80 of its 240 pupils came down with flu-like symptoms.
“We had homecoming this past weekend, so they all spent the weekend together,” head of school Tim Euler was quoted by FOX as saying. “For the safety of our students and families, we decided it was time to hold them out.”

While students are out, the campus will be scrubbed down and disinfected.
Last week, Santa Fe Catholic High School in Lakeland closed down on a Friday as a norovirus outbreak sickened many students with stomach symptoms. That outbreak was confirmed by the Polk County Health Department, according to WFLA.

On Sunday, Gil Kromer, a senior at Santa Fe died from a suspected case of bacterial meningitis. A final determination on the illness is still pending.
