Arrest Made In Hit-And-Run Bicycle Death

A 22-year-old Pennsylvania man has been charged in the hit-and-run death of a bicyclist in Tampa.

TAMPA, FL — A 22-year-old Pennsylvania man has been charged in the hit-and-run death of a bicyclist in Tampa.

On Monday around 7 p.m., a bicyclist was riding north on North Gomez Avenue when he turned east onto West Gray Street into the path of a Jeep Wrangler driven by Seth D. Lapensohn of Goldwyne, Pennsylvania.

The victim was killed when he was thrown from the bicycle. Tampa Police said Lapensohn fled the scene. Almost an hour later, he returned to the scene in the damaged Jeep and admitted his involvement in the crash. Police said he appeared to be under the influence when he returned to the scene.

Lapensohn was charged with leaving the scene of a crash with a death and misdemeanor DUI that occurred when he drove back to the scene.

Police did not provide the name of the bicyclist.
