Arts Legacy REMIX At Straz Center To Commemorate Stonewall Riots
Free event on the Straz Riverwalk March 24
TAMPA, FL — The Straz Center for the Performing Arts will present Arts Legacy REMIX: Global Pride - A Unified Community on Friday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. on the Straz Riverwalk Stage in downtown Tampa. The event is free, and like all Straz Arts Legacy REMIX shows, will celebrate the varied cultures and talented local artists who live in the Tampa Bay area.
In this commemoration of the Stonewall Riots, local talented artists across Tampa Bay who embody the global impact of the LGBTQIA+ community will be featured. Performers will include John Carlos Arcos of the Gay Men's Chorus of Tampa Bay; Sam Obeid, spoken word artist; projectALCHEMY dancers; His Hem, harpist; and Shevonne & The Force musical group. Additionally, Adriana Corso will perform contemporary dances using light and paint.
The next Arts Legacy REMIX show will take place Friday, April 21. Arts Legacy REMIX: Celtic Culture Festival will highlight the rich storytelling of the Celtic culture, from the coasts of Ireland to the Isle of Man, and will celebrate the rich history and artistry that these nations have cherished for many generations.

To wrap up the season, on Monday, June 19, the Straz will commemorate Juneteenth with Arts Legacy REMIX: Third Annual Juneteenth Commemoration, in the Jaeb Theater. In an evening of remembrance and celebration, this event will recognize the importance of the date. June 19th, 1865, when enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, were set free, the act which officially ended slavery in America. Featured will be spoken remembrances, writings of historical importance and an original performance.
Already held this season were: Arts Legacy REMIX: Selebrasyon Ayisyen (Haitian Celebration) – A Day to Remember; Arts Legacy REMIX: Let Freedom Ring (MLK Jr. Commemoration); and Arts Legacy REMIX: International Women’s Celebration.

All performances are held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Visual art exhibits will also be on display at that time.
