Butt Dial to 911 Lands Woman Behind Bars
Police in Volusia County say she was shoplifting from a Walmart at the time.

A 25-year-old Volusia County woman is in hot water after she inadvertently butt dialed 911 while making a shoplifting getaway.
The woman was attempting to get into a truck to make her escape following a shoplifting at a New Smyrna Beach Walmart Tuesday when the call connected to 911, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reported.
Dispatchers ended up recording roughly 18 minutes of a play-by-play of the crime, including the woman telling the driver of the truck that she needed to rid herself of items she had in her possession to manufacture crystal meth, WFTV reported.

The woman even assured the driver he wouldn’t get into any trouble.
“You’re not in trouble right now,” the News-Journal quoted her as saying on the call. “You had nothing to do with it. You weren’t inside Walmart stealing.”
