The Candle Pour To Celebrate Hyde Park Village Opening Thursday

The Candle Pour offers customers a chance to pour their own candles.

TAMPA, FL -- The Candle Pour, Tampa's first pour-your-own candle shop, will open Thursday, April 25 at 2 p.m. on the second level of Hyde Park Village at 734 S. Village Circle.

The Candle Pour will allow visitors to design and create their own combination of scented candles. Armed with clipboards, customers will be invited to walk down a line of vessels containing more than 100 different candle fragrances. They will choose their containers and work with employees to pour the all-natural soy wax to create their own personalized candles. Team members will help to make sure the candles are wicked and poured properly. There are also flameless options to create your own reed diffusers, room spray, linen spray, body spray and wax melts.

“We are always thrilled to welcome local Tampa Bay businesses, particularly those like The Candle Pour that provide a brand new type of interactive experience,” said Kayla Swisher, marketing manager at Hyde Park Village. “The Candle Pour represents another family-friendly activity that allows our guests to spend the day shopping, dining and getting creative at Hyde Park Village.”

Owner Misty Akers said she and her husband, Dennis, chose to open the store at Hyde Park Village because it is an experience destination. Once candles are mixed, it takes up to an hour and a half for the wax to set. Customers have countless options within walking distance to spend their time like shopping, dining, getting their hair styled or exercising. The Candle Pour staff will even offer to deliver the candles to them.

“Candles were a big part of my childhood,” said Akers, who left a high-profile job in the corporate world to become an entrepreneur. “Candles have always been a sentimental part of our life. Dennis and I both feel they remind us of home and family. We love that we can create memories for others and be a part of their home.”
