Carmel Cafe & Wine Bar Set to Open Doors to Public Today
A new restaurant is attracting a lot of attention on Henderson Blvd.
What was once an unsightly business strip plaza has been converted into an upscale wine bar and restaurant, seemingly overnight.
Carmel Cafe & Wine bar, currently operating under the umbrella of MVP Holdings (owners of Lee Roy Selmon's), now sits on the former Crest Business Center site on Henderson Boulevard and is quickly attracting attention to a lot that was an eye sore just a few months back.
"I think this is a little sexier than what was here before," executive Vice President for Carmel Cafe Alex Sullivan said. "This location came together in twelve weeks which is pretty quick, especially when you consider it's summer time. We were scared a couple times along the way but we have really good people that have helped us get this together."

With the work having been done so quickly, one might expect the ownership and staff to still be working the kinks out. That wasn't the case, however, as the restaurant welcomed the local media and friends of the organization for a preview of things to come on Monday night.
Showing off a new bar, wine cellar, distinct decor and technologically advanced method of ordering, the restaurant dazzled its first audience with samplings from the menu.

With a wide array of small plates and entrees, the diversity in the menu offers up a little something for anyone looking to pair a good glass of wine with their dinner. The setting, the food and the culture of South Tampa are something that operating partner Will Sezna sees as the perfect setup for success.
"I opened the one in Carrollwood and that was great but I'm really looking forward to opening this location," Sezna said. "Things move more my speed down here and we have a great setup that I think will do well in this area."
The new location in South Tampa is the fourth in Florida and is the first free standing location. Location is crucial to the success of a business, something that doesn't concern Sullivan in the least.
"We've seen more than a couple restaurants have a good run down in this area so we feel comfortable with what we've done here," Sullivan said. "This is a good market to be in. We're excited to be in South Tampa."
The restaurant will open its doors to the public for the first time today at 5 p.m. serving dinner Monday-Thursday from 5-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday from 5-11 p.m. and 5-9 p.m. on Sundays. To make a reservation, call (813) 964-6889 or visit www.carmelcafe.com to learn more.
