Parc Center for Disabilities Recognized as a 2026 Legacy Business representing District 1 

<a href="https://www.parc-fl.org/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Parc Center for Disabilities</a> announced the appointment of Patricia Clynes to chief financial officer (CFO), effective September 8, 2026. Clynes succeeds Mark Cavanaugh, executive vice president and chief financial officer, who will retire on October 1, 2026, after seven years of dedicated service with the organization and over 30 years serving in financial leadership positions. 
As CFO, Clynes will oversee all finance-related functions, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, financial reporting, compliance, investments, audits and internal controls. She will work closely with Parc's leadership team to align financial resources with organizational priorities, support strategic planning, and ensure the organization's continued operational excellence and long-term sustainability.
"We are deeply grateful to Mark for his years of extraordinary leadership, which have positioned Parc for continued success,&rdquo; said Michelle Detweiler, president and CEO of Parc Center for Disabilities. &ldquo;As we look to the future, Patricia is an exceptional leader whose vision, financial expertise and passion for mission-driven organizations make her the ideal person to help lead Parc into its next chapter. Her ability to align financial stewardship with organizational growth will be instrumental as we continue expanding opportunities and services for the individuals and families we support.&rdquo;
Clynes brings more than two decades of executive financial and operational leadership in the nonprofit sector to her new role. Most recently, she served as chief financial officer for the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg, where she partnered with senior staff to drive growth, modernize financial operations, increase grant utilization and advance major capital initiatives, including a $50 million partnership with Pinellas County Schools and the $96 million Gills YMCA redevelopment project. Her achievements have earned regional recognition, including being named a 2023 Tampa Bay Business Journal CFO of the Year and a 2025 Titan 100 Tampa Bay honoree. Clynes also serves as board treasurer for the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce.
Clynes assumes the role following Cavanaugh, who joined Parc in 2019 and has overseen the organization's finance, accounting, information technology and purchasing functions. A certified public accountant with more than 30 years of chief financial officer experience, Cavanaugh has guided Parc's financial operations through a period of growth, while bringing expertise across affordable housing, senior living, long-term care, transportation and nonprofit management. Earlier this year, he was named a 2026 Tampa Bay Business Journal CFO of the Year honoree.
"Mark's leadership has helped position Parc for long-term success," said Detweiler. "His commitment to fiscal responsibility, operational excellence and our mission has left a lasting impact on this organization. We wish him all the best in his well-earned retirement and thank him for the many contributions he has made to Parc and the people we support."

Color psychology explores how different shades and hues can influence emotion, mood, and behavior. As awareness of these connections grows, more people are choosing artwork with intention, selecting palettes based on how they want a space to feel rather than simply how they want it to look.
The journal Psychonomic Bulletin &amp; Review published a review of 128 years of psychological research examining how color influences our feelings. Researchers found consistent associations between specific hues and emotions. For example, research has linked yellow with joy and pink with positive emotions, while red and purple are often perceived as empowering. The findings reinforce that different colors can evoke distinct emotional associations and influence how people respond to what they see.
Choosing tones and original artwork with intention can help create a home that feels more personal, inviting, and filled with positivity and joy. Shah offers the following tips for selecting artwork that can help transform both the look and feel of a space:
<ul><li>Start with the feeling. Decide how you want the room to feel&hellip;calm, energetic, joyful, grounded, or inspired? Let that emotion guide the palette and artwork you choose.</li><li>Create a focal point. Forget about making everything match perfectly. Instead, choose one compelling piece that draws the eye, anchors the space, and brings the room to life.</li><li>Choose color with intention. Consider how different shades make you feel and select a palette that supports the atmosphere you want to create. For a calming space, for example, look for tones and artwork with a soothing visual rhythm.</li><li>Add dimension through texture. Texture can completely change the experience of art in a room. Mixed-media artwork adds depth and movement, a type of energy, and can take on a different appearance as light moves across its surface throughout the day, making it a great conversation piece. </li><li>Choose connection over trends. Find artwork that speaks to you personally rather than simply following what is &ldquo;on trend&rdquo; or popular. A meaningful piece can remain relevant and treasured long after decorating trends have changed.</li><li>Know the story behind the art. Learning about an artist, their inspiration, process, and the story behind a piece can create a deeper connection to the work and make it even more meaningful in your home.</li></ul>

Shah is a contemporary mixed-media artist based in Tampa, Florida, whose work explores the connection between color, texture, movement, and emotion.
