The Corners Set To Open 2nd Pizza Eatery In Water Street Tampa

The pizza restaurant will expand from a Sparkman Wharf shipping container to retail space at the Heron.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa-based pizza restaurant The Corners has announced it will open a second location within Water Street Tampa early next year.

One of the original 10 restaurant concepts in the dining garden at Sparkman Wharf at 615 Channelside Drive in Tampa, The Corners is now expanding with a full-service restaurant that will open on the ground floor of Heron, the highly anticipated new residential building at 815 Water St.

Called 3 Corners Pizza and led by local restaurateur Noel Cruz, known for his acclaimed restaurants Ichicoro Ramen, Ichicoro Imoto and c.1949 Beer Garden, the restaurant will serve New York-style pies and slices in a sit-down setting with a full liquor bar featuring specialty cocktails and a comprehensive draught program.

“We’re thrilled to announce 3 Corners Pizza and our plans to take additional space in the amazing Water Street Tampa neighborhood,” said Cruz. “I worked in the New York City restaurant world for 20 years, but Tampa is my home, so it’s particularly exciting for me to bring those worlds together with this new dining concept.”

Named after the shape of the iconic New York slice, 3 Corners Pizza will bring true New York-style pizza to Tampa as a complement to the Detroit-style pizzas The Corners serves for take-out at Sparkman Wharf.

Curated by Cruz, the menu will feature both classic and creatively topped pies, along with oven roasted goodies. The 2,500-square-foot restaurant at 815 Water St. will feature more than 120 seats, a full bar and extensive patio seating for outdoor dining.

3 Corners Pizza joins GreenWise Market, a Publix-owned grocery store offering organic, natural and specialty groceries, in the retail space at Heron.

Cruz is also opening Gangchu, a Korean fried chicken and beer restaurant in nearby Seminole Heights in early 2021.

“The Corners quickly became a beloved pizza joint at Water Street Tampa since it opened in Sparkman Wharf, and we’re proud to watch that success blossom into another dining experience for our community,” said Susan Martin, vice president of retail and place management at SPP, the developer of Water Street Tampa.

One of the largest developments currently under construction in the Southeast, Water Street Tampa is transforming 56 acres into a dynamic mixed-use neighborhood built around wellness, connectivity, walkability and sustainability. The development by Strategic Property Partners LLC is bringing nine million square feet of new residential, commercial, hospitality, retail, educational and cultural space to Tampa and reconnecting the city’s downtown core with its long-underutilized waterfront.
