Dog Poop Dispute Leads to Shooting

An argument between neighbors over a dog pooping in a yard took a decidedly un-neighborly turn Friday afternoon.

According to the Tampa Police Department, the incident unfolded around 12:42 p.m. at 9411 N. 12th St. It occurred as a dispute over one neighbor’s dog defecating in another neighbor’s yard escalated.

Neighbor Dante J. Roberson, 30, was shot. The other neighbor took off from the scene.

Police have not yet identified the man suspected of doing the shooting. It is also unclear at this time if Roberson is the dog’s owner or if it was his yard that served as the pooch’s relief site.

Roberson was taken to Tampa General Hospital where police spokeswoman Andrea Davis says he is in stable condition.
