Double Shooting Investigation Continues

One person is dead and another critical following the Saturday night shooting at a Tampa bar.

As the Tampa Police Department continues its investigation into a double shooting outside Chic’s Bar on Saturday night, detectives are hoping witnesses will come forward.

The shooting at the 9002 N. Florida Ave. bar has left one man, David Darryl Cooper, 32, dead and another, Johnathan Cardenas-Calderon, 29, in critical condition.

Police say they received a call around 11:45 p.m. Saturday about shots fired at the bar. When they arrived, the two men were found in the back parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers, an email from the agency stated, performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

Cooper was pronounced dead at the hospital, while Cardenas-Calderon remains critical.

Detectives are actively following leads, the department stated, and say the shooting appears to be drug-related.
