Elderly Tampa Man Charged In Child Porn Case

Tampa Police detectives say the man was charged with 28 counts of possession of child pornography.

TAMPA, FL — A 72-year-old Tampa man faces 28 counts of possession of child pornography after police say they served a search warrant at his West Barcelona Street home on Tuesday.

According to the police department an investigation into Johnny Giovanni Boromei kicked off when detectives “discovered a computer in south Tampa advertising a large amount of known or suspected child pornography available for download.” Police say that discovery resulted in them being able to obtain a search warrant to examine digital items in Boromei's home.

“Detectives and agents from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement executed the warrant and discovered evidence, including a computer used for downloading and sharing child pornography,” an email from the police department said. “Boromei was arrested and charged with 28 counts of possession of child pornography.”
