FHP Seeks Driver Who Struck Road Ranger On Howard Frankland

The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for the driver of a gray Nissan versa who struck a Florida road ranger assisting a disabled vehicle.

TAMPA, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for the driver of a gray Nissan versa who struck a Florida road ranger assisting a disabled vehicle on the Howard Frankland Bridge Saturday.

At 2:31 p.m., the 28-year-old Florida road ranger was traveling north on the bridge when he pulled over to assist a disabled vehicle.

Just before the road ranger got out of his pickup truck, a 2014 Mazda 6 traveled partially onto the outside shoulder and sideswiped the ranger's truck.

The Mazda then traveled down the grass embankment and collided with a concrete barrier wall.

Following the accident, a white or Hispanice woman got out of the Mazda and got into a gray Nissan Versa driven by a heavyset Black man who left the scene of the crash. The driver of the Mazda was not the car's owner.

The road ranger was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
