FL Restaurant Among Top 100 Brunch Spots In U.S., New List Says

FLORIDA — An eatery in Florida is ranked in the top 10 in a new list of the best places to grab brunch from the crowdsourced business review site Yelp. The list came out ahead of Mother’s Day, one of the busiest days of the year for restaurants specializing in the late-morning meal.

The top-ranked Florida restaurant is Psomi, ranked at No. 9 on Yelp’s Top 100 Brunch Spots 2024. The Tampa eatery is known for its Bougatsa french toast, pork gyro and bread basket.

Others from Florida are:

• George Bistro and Bar, Pensacola, ranked at No. 17 and known for its short ribs, french toast and Bonita-s lobster roll.
• R House Wynwood, Miami, ranked at No. 21 and known for its cinnamon french toast, sweet chili fried chicken and grilled sweet chili skirt steak.
• PK’s Roosevelt Room, St. Augustine, ranked at No. 24 and known for its hipster toast, fried chicken and brisket rancheros.
• Crackings – Grayton Beach, Santa Rosa Beach, ranked at No. 28 and known for its french toast, huevos rancheros and lobster gouda.
• Rosie’s, Miami, ranked at No. 31 and known for its lemon ricotta pancakes, deviled eggs and chicken and waffles.
• Noble Crust, St. Petersburg, ranked at No. 48 and known for its meatballs, noble pig and caesar salad.
• Se7en Bites, Orlando, ranked at No. 53 and known for its baked pot pies, chicken pot pies and unsweetened orange blossom.
• Bistro Cafe, Miami, ranked at No. 73 and known for its french toast, stuffed avocado and avocado toast.
• Java & Jam, Fort Lauderdale, ranked at No. 77 and known for its avocado toast, banana bread french toast and taco eggs.

The 100 featured restaurants cater to a wide range of tastes with their diverse menus. These menus offer an assortment of items, ranging from classic brunch dishes like eggs Benedict, French toast, and mimosas, to fusion menus that blend ethnic dishes with American favorites, Yelp said in a news release.

Reservations are always a good idea, especially for Mother’s Day brunch on Sunday, May 12. Six of the top 10 restaurants on the list report that Mother’s Day is their busiest day of the year, Yelp said, noting that its own data confirms that. In 2023, Mother’s Day reservations surged 79 percent from the previous Sunday.

To compile the list, Yelp looked at businesses in the breakfast and brunch category, searching for terms such as “brunch” and “Mother’s Day,” and then ranked the restaurants on multiple factors, including how often those words were mentioned in ratings and reviews in the past three years.

Adjustments were made for restaurants with multiple locations, with only the highest-rated restaurant included. Yelp also limited the number of restaurants per state to add geographic diversity.
