Front Doors That Say “C’mon In!”

The curb appeal of your home makes a huge impact.  It reflects your personal style as well as the personality and charm of the neighborhood, but unless people are actively looking to purchase or build a custom home, they are not often stopping to stare at your home.  However, when you are welcoming guests into your home, they most likely will be stopping and staring at your front door.  Your entry door sets the tone for your home.  New home builders in Tampa recommend welcoming guests with one of the following 4 door styles.

Contemporary – Contemporary styles often get a bad rap as cold and industrial.  Home builders in Tampa are warming up the contemporary look, starting with the front door! There are two simple ways to make a modern entry door more welcoming.  First, choose a warm tone like a deep brown that appears nearly black. Next add some glass into your design.  The fact that you can see into the home creates a welcoming environment from the doorstep.  If that is a little too welcoming, consider frosted glass that still lets light in without any unwanted eyes seeing in.  Continue this style throughout the home with straight lines and minimalistic patterns.

Transitional – Caught in between Contemporary and Traditional, Transitional door styles combine the straight lines of contemporary style with the traditional woodgrains.  Including large panels of glass makes this style stand out.  Keep combining straight lines on the big ticket items like cabinets, but add some more angular light and plumbing fixtures throughout the Transitional home.

Traditional – Traditional door styles imply that the home within will have traditional elements that make guests feel like they are back in their parents’ home.  This door style is a great selection if the idea of having glass on the front door is not a high priority.  If letting light in is still a concern, add a side light on either side to allow that light to shine through.  Installing some sheer draperies over the windows will provide extra privacy.  In the home with a Traditional door, include crown molding and a two story entry.

Radius – Radius style doors are often seen on true Mediterranean homes.  With their lack of straight lines, these doors are reminiscent of the castles of eras past.  The curves practically hug visitors as they walk in.  Again, selecting warm, deep stains creates a welcoming first impression!
