FSU Student Paralyzed Following Deadly Shooting
An online fundraiser has been established to help the man who was shot three times in front of the Strozier Library.

When Myron May opened fire on students at Florida State University’s Strozier Library last week, Farhan “Ronny” Ahmed, 21, was among the three people injured before police stopped the attack.
Ahmed of Apopka, library employee Nathan Scott and Freshman Elijah Velez of Miramar were among the injured, the Miami Herald reported. While Scott was treated and released from a hospital and Velez was treated at the scene, Ahmed’s injuries are more serious, the paper said.
Ahmed was shot three times during the Nov. 20 attack, fellow FSU student Chase Roberts wrote on a YouCaring fundraiser launched to offset his medical expenses.

“He has been critically injured and remains in the ICU at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital,” Roberts wrote. “Ronny was the first student shot, but despite his wounds was able to alert authorities in time for them to subdue his attacker.”
Ahmed suffered a serious spinal cord injury during the shooting and remains paralyzed from the waist down. He is “not expected to walk again.”
He also suffered injuries to his arm and chest.
As of Monday afternoon, the fundraising effort had raised more than $30,000. The goal is to raise $100,000 to “set up a medical trust to support the family with medical expenses and long-term care.”
