Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis says it's OK for residents to raise a glass during these trying times.

TALLAHASSEE, FL — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis says it's OK for residents to raise a glass during these trying times.

In conjunction with Friday's Executive Order mandating that restaurants shut down in-house dining and offer only takeout and delivery, DeSantis also lifted the ban on alcohol delivery by restaurants under certain conditions.

The updated executive order is part of the state's ongoing effort to help limit the spread of the coronavirus.

“Gov. DeSantis continues to lead and take swift action out of precaution for the safety of Florida residents and visitors,” said Carol Dover, president and CEO of the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association. “Allowing restaurants to stay open for delivery and takeout, while also lifting the ban for alcohol delivery, is critical to supporting Florida’s dining establishments and their employees. We applaud Gov. DeSantis for allowing Florida’s hospitality industry to continue to meet the needs of communities across Florida during this difficult time."

Under DeSantis' guidelines, the alcohol must be in a sealed contained and delivered with a food order. Customers must show proper identification.
